Systemic inflammatory response syndrome in patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm and Leriche syndrome after abdominal aorta reconstruction

چکیده
The authors present a preliminary report concerning systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) occurrence in patients after operations in the abdominal segment of the aorta. Considering the small amount of analysed patients, the authors only indicate that aneurysm of the abdominal aorta can be a cause of SIRS formation. The significance of SIRS occurrence in connection with the type of implanted prosthesis and operation time was not observed. More than the twice blood loss, in comparison with the entire analysed group, seems to be a pro developmental factor for SIRS. The authors observed SIRS in a group of patients with Leriche Syndrome and abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). They did not notice any correlation between operating time or type of implanted prosthesis (straight vs. bifurcated) and SIRS. They noticed that more than twice the blood loss in the remaining patients was one of the reasons for SIRS. SIRS occurred only in patients with AAA.

Renal insufficiency after infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm reconstruction: An analysis of this risk factor in 45 patients
Abstract Background: Renal insufficiency is a potential complication after infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and is a significant risk factor for postoperative mortality and morbidity. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of this risk factor, before and during operation. Methods: In this prospective study, between 2003 and 2006, 45 patients underwent repair of an infrarena...

Background and purpose: Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is a localized enlargement of infrarenal abdominal aorta. Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is a surgical method introduced for AAA repair. This study, for the first time in Iran, investigated the complications and mortality rate associated with EVAR. Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, medical records were reviewed...

متن کاملIs the occlusion of the infrarenal aorta embolic or chronic when efficient collaterals exist?
I read with great interest the article entitled ‘Occlusion of the abdominal aorta in a patient with chronic atrial fibrillation’ by Ma et al. [1] that reports a case of intracardiac (left atrial) thrombus with infrarenal occlusion of the abdominal aorta. The legend of Fig. 2 states that the occlusion is of embolic origin. However, the development of such a bypassing collateral vascular network ...
متن کاملAcute Leriche Syndrome due to Embolisation of an Atrial Myxoma
The presentations of cardiac myxoma are diverse, from asymptomatic to a variety of symptoms due to embolisation. Total occlusion of the abdominal aorta due to embolisation of an atrial myxoma is a rare but lifethreatening event which demands an urgent diagnosis and prompt intervention with embolectomy. In this paper a patient with acute onset paraplegia is presented. CT angiography revealed a l...
